Recipe For Having Big Bay Horses
Dance On Their Feet

Collect the Following Ingredients:

  1. One gorgeous Breezy September Sunday
  2. Big Bay Quarter horse Gelding and one Bossy T-Bred Mare going to a show together for the first time (show experiment).
  3. Judge called in at the last minute dressed in a sun dress, BIG floppy sun hat, paddock boots and bright pink socks.

Add:

  1. 1 1/4 sized too small Reed Hill black hat (it's the daughter's, which has been grabbed at 5 am, by mistake, while loading the truck).

Slowly Simmer:

  1. The showmanship ring with dust and blowing sand.
  2. Add a dash of Bossy the Mare screaming to Big Bay, "YOOOOUU HOOOOOOO? Jack, where art thou my dearest? are you in the ring? are you in the trailer?, I need you!".
  3. Toss in a cup full of big bay horse answering with "yes my dear, I am here in the ring, I'll be with you in a heart beat, I miss you!".

Have no fear as Big Bay dances sideways in the line up!

Put it All Together:

With Big Bay calling to Bossy, approach nice lady judge for your set up. Try to perform slides, jog off to your 360 and start your approach back to the nice lady judge. Suddenly a gust of wind grabs the hat, as the Big Bay screams louder to Bossy. Dancing and jogging, another gust of wind catches the hat (1 1/2 sizes too small) which sails straight into the Big Bay's chest. It bounces off of his withers, causes him to dance uncontrollably as you stop the jog back to the judge.

Big Bay is calling Bossy, Bossy is calling Big Bay, and I'm beat red in the face.

The beloved Judge is smiling like I've never seen before..

I eat my humble pie, and was thankful I had received a 6th place ribbon (out of 6 in the class). I really didn't have to get a ribbon at all!

For recipe perfection, perform the same feat at the next year's show, (minus Bossy) with added wind for more gusto, in front of the same judge.
